The Hebden Bridge & District Older People's Welfare Committee is a registered charity that has been in existence for more than 100 years.
Once again our community is coming together to help one another, with those who are able, providing assistance to people in at-risk groups who are self-isolating or social distancing and unable to shop, socialise freely or mix with others.
Local businesses are thinking of innovative ways to reach out those who need it and provide goods and services in a completely different way, and volunteers are helping to bridge the gap between those businesses by providing delivery services, lending a hand or undertaking simple tasks on behalf of those who have been wise enough to heed the government's advice.
This site will be an easy resource for those who need it, and we will set up ways to connect people with others who are also isolating or distancing, through telephone trees, letter writing, book clubs, and other ‘virtual’ ways of socialising.
Registrations for support and volunteering through The Hebden Bridge & District Old People's Welfare Committee have now closed, and all support functions have been passed on to our sister organisation Calder Community Cares. Please visit their site for more information.
