The Hebden Bridge & District Older People's Welfare Committee is a registered charity that has been in existence for more than 100 years.
Once again our community is coming together to help one another, with those who are able, providing assistance to people in at-risk groups who are self-isolating or social distancing and unable to shop, socialise freely or mix with others.
Local businesses are thinking of innovative ways to reach out those who need it and provide goods and services in a completely different way, and volunteers are helping to bridge the gap between those businesses by providing delivery services, lending a hand or undertaking simple tasks on behalf of those who have been wise enough to heed the government's advice.
This site will be an easy resource for those who need it, and we will set up ways to connect people with others who are also isolating or distancing, through telephone trees, letter writing, book clubs, and other ‘virtual’ ways of socialising.
If you are self-isolating or social distancing please
Even if you don't need any immediate help please sign up, as it will help us allocate and estimate any resources we may receive in future.
Neighbours who aren't on the internet? Please help us to reach more people by downloading one of our flyers from here and popping it through any letterbox of anyone you think might be glad to hear from us.
If you would like to register as a volunteer please
If you use these please ensure that all precautions are taken to not contaminate yourself or those who are isolating.
If you are a local business who is still trading please
Local businesses are adapting to the Covid19 pandemic by finding ways to offer their services remotely.
Please support local traders who are adapting so they are able to remain providing services to the local community.
